A Guide To Taking Your Own Measurements

Basic Measurements

Basic Measurements

Bust: The measurement around your body at the fullest part of your bust. Relax your arms at your side when recording, as this will give you the most accurate result. Make sure to hold the tape firmly enough that it does not dip down at your back.

Waist: The measurement around your body that is typically at the smallest part of your torso. To double check where your waist is, bend to one side and the crease that forms is your natural waistline.

Hips: The hip measurement is not taken around the top of your hip bone, but taken around your body at the fullest point of your hips/bottom.

Height: Make sure to measure while in bare feet or flat shoes.

Romper Measurements

Girth: To measure girth, place a tape measure at the top of your shoulder, then down through the crotch and back to the same shoulder.

Inseam: The inseam measurement is taken by measuring the distance between the top inside of your thigh and the bottom of your ankle (or where you want the romper to be hemmed to - this can vary depending on the style).

Front Rise: Measure from the centre front of your natural waist to your crotch.

Back Rise: Measure from the centre front of your natural waist and under your crotch to the centre back of your natural waist. Subtract your front rise from the measurement you have just taken and that will give you your back rise calculation.

What is included in the sewing kit?

Upon opening your sewing kit you will find all the essential materials you will need to complete your project.

This Includes:

A precut linen garment in your choice of style, color, and size.
Two spools of color-matched thread.
A printed workbook that is fully illustrated to guide you through your project.
A garment label to sew into your project after completion.
Essential notions such as elastic, buttons, and fusing.
A printed pattern, so you can create your project again and again!

What tools are required?

All our styles can be completed on a basic domestic sewing machine with a zig-zag stitch. If you have a serger you may choose to finish your seams that way as well. Both methods are outlined in the detailed step-by-step sewing guide included with the purchase.

Sewing machine with straight stitch
Serger or sewing machine with zig zag stitch

Scissors and/or snips
Seam ripper
Iron and ironing board
Chalk, pencil, or water/air soluble pen

What size should I pick if I am between sizes?

We would encourage you to pick the larger of the two sizes. It is much easier to alter a garment that is slightly to large than slightly too small.

Do I need to wash my precut garment before I begin sewing?

No, because there is already our fabric's shrinkage rate built into the pattern precut pattern pieces.

Is there a sewing pattern included?

Yes, there is a printed copy of the sewing pattern in your selected size. So you will be able to create your project again and again!

Can you customize my precut garment?

At this time we are not offering customizations on our precut garments for sewing.

You are welcome to resize, modify, or alter the sewing pattern that is included to suit your personal preferences and/or measurements if you are between sizes for future sewing.
