Frequently Asked Questions
Sizing & Customization
We get it, sizing is not always quite as straightforward when shopping online. Don't worry, we got you. Since each piece is unique, there is product specific sizing info on each garment page under the sizing tab.
If unsure of sizing, please select the size you believe you are closest to and then include your measurements (bust, waist, hip, height) in the order note section of the cart page and we will double check that the size you selected is correct and/or if you need any customizations made from our base size.
If you still have questions, don't hesitate to email hello@cedarandvine.net for a sizing recommendation.
None of us fit neatly into one size from head-to-toe, so we offer fit customization at no extra cost. Our made-for-you approach gives you the freedom to alter pieces for that just-right fit.
We’ll help you with base size selection and taking your own measurements, then create a personalized digital pattern that reflects your preferences. Your pattern is saved for future orders, so it’s ready and waiting as you grow your collection.
We offer customizations to any of our base styles. These include (but are not limited to):
- lengthening/ shortening garment inseam, torso length, sleeve length, etc
- customizing garment shape to body measurements
- adding/ removing sleeves
- making a style breastfeeding friendly
Many other customizations can be accommodated and we encourage you to reach out if you have any questions as to how we can customize a style.
No. Everyone deserves to have great fitting clothing and we believe it is worth the extra effort.
The only time we would have to charge extra is if the customization required substantially more material. For example if you wanted a top lengthened into a dress.
Yes. Unless you are ordering from our ready-to-ship section; all garments are made-to-order, even if you are ordering a base size w/o any customizations.
We do not offer fully custom garments. Although we would love to, our team does not have the time resources to dedicate to the pattern making involved with fully customized styles.

Brand Info
At Cedar & Vine, slow fashion is at the very core of our brand philosophy and practices. We believe that clothing should be made with care, consideration, and a focus on sustainability.
For us, slow fashion means stepping away from the fast-paced, disposable nature of the fashion industry. It's about embracing a more intentional approach to design and production, where quality and longevity take precedence over fleeting trends. We strive to create timeless pieces that withstand the test of time, both in terms of style and durability.
In practical terms, slow fashion means utilizing all-natural fibers, which offers exceptional comfort, versatility, and a lower environmental impact compared to synthetic materials. We choose fabrics that are free from synthetic coatings or finishes, allowing them to naturally biodegrade when their lifecycle eventually comes to an end.
Slow fashion means rejecting the concept of mass production and excessive inventory. We operate on a made-to-order basis, crafting garments specifically for each customer. This approach not only eliminates the waste associated with overproduction but also ensures that every piece is tailored to the individual's measurements and preferences.
We are committed to supporting fair and ethical manufacturing practices. Our garments are lovingly crafted by our small team, under one roof - fostering a positive and sustainable impact on our local communities.
Slow fashion, to us, is about conscious consumption and mindful choices. It's about investing in quality pieces that you truly cherish, reducing waste, and minimizing our ecological footprint.
Why linen? We adore linen for its exceptional qualities. It's incredibly durable, retaining its shape and getting even softer with age. Linen is easy to care for, machine washable, and doesn't require excessive ironing.

Moreover, linen is sustainable, recyclable, and biodegradable, making it an environmentally conscious choice.
Ultimately, we choose linen for its timeless beauty, durability, and lasting comfort!

Frequently Asked Questions
Garment Care
Caring for your linen items is easy! You can hand or machine wash them in cold water with gentle detergent. Tumble drying on a low setting helps soften the linen.
Most of our products are pre-washed to prevent additional shrinkage. For tailored garments, like lined jackets and coats, dry cleaning is recommended.
Wrinkles are part of linen's natural charm, but if you prefer a pressed look, use a medium-heat iron or a garment steamer. Hanging your linen item in a steamy bathroom can also help remove wrinkles. Our Linen Spray is a great way to freshen up and soften wrinkles on natural fiber garments and bed linens, and it's especially handy for traveling.
All our knits are pre-washed to prevent additional shrinkage. You can hand or machine wash them with detergent. Tumble dry on a low setting.
The lifespan of your Cedar & Vine garment depends on various factors, including the style, the fit, your lifestyle, frequency of wear, and how well you care for it.
At Cedar & Vine, we prioritize the use of natural fibers (primarily linen) without any synthetic coatings or finishes. Our conscious selection ensures that our garments minimize their impact on landfills, oceans, and the environment. However, it's important to note that natural fibers may naturally wear with time, unlike synthetic materials or chemically treated fibers.
Under typical wear conditions, our garments are designed to last for years with proper care. However, certain factors, such as wearing a garment that is excessively tight, subjecting delicate fabrics to harsh conditions, frequent high-temperature washing, infrequent washing, or improper storage, can contribute to premature wear.
We believe in creating products that blend both quality and sustainability. While our garments are not intended to last forever, we embrace the philosophy that responsible consumption means valuing the lifecycle of our clothing. Any manufacturing defects or damages are typically apparent upon arrival. If you notice any issues with your item upon receipt, please inform us immediately, and we will address them right away. Furthermore, if you feel that your garment is exhibiting premature wear after owning it for some time, please email us, and we will be happy to assist you.
At Cedar & Vine, we are committed to offering timeless garments that reflect your personal style while reducing our environmental impact.
We currently don't offer repairs in house, but we are more than happy to provide off-cuts for patching. Reach out to us via email hello@cedarandvine.net with the color you need and your current mailing address. We will send you material for patching and mending.
Frequently Asked Questions
General Benefits of Linen
100% linen (as opposed to linen fibers mixed in with cotton or hemp) offers maximum breathability and longevity. Linen’s best qualities are optimized through its purity, meaning that any 100% linen product will be extra sustainable, extra durable, and extra stylish.
Our linen is always 100% linen, which both the planet and our customers love. Would you like to find out more about what makes our linen special? Head on over to our Linen page.
Yes! One of the many benefits of genuine linen is that it gets softer with every wash. Well-maintained linen will last for years, becoming (appealingly) slightly faded and soft to the touch.
(Unfortunately, cheaper fabrics or blended linen might become crunchy or weaker the longer it’s in rotation).
One of life’s eternal mysteries is why hotel bedding has such a luxurious feel. However, we can clarify what makes hotel linen so touchable and comfortable to sleep on.
The high thread count makes it smooth and soft, and pleasantly dense. Like our linen, hotel linen usually thermoregulates very effectively - keeping you cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold. Hotel linen is also washed frequently, making it fresh and clean.
Natural linen has a very slightly irregular texture, which adds a highly appealing sense of craftsmanship and tailoring (find out more about how we tailor our linen here). High-quality linen is one of the most sustainable fabric options commercially available, demonstrating modernity and eco-consciousness. Finally, linen retains color very well - you can identify a linen garment by its rich colors and attractive patterning.
Overall, linen has an air of luxury that its factory-made fast fashion counterparts cannot replicate.
Linen is not a cheap fabric - quite the opposite. Due to its careful tailoring and sustainable roots in flaxseed, linen is a rich and sustainable fabric. Linen forms the basis of high-quality garments, bedding, decor, and tableware.
Cedar & Vine, in particular, is proud to oppose cheap fast fashion by using woman-made, exceptional quality material.
Linen clothes are a fantastic investment - especially high-quality linen. 100%, handcrafted linen will last for years, unlike other fabrics. In fact, linen clothes will become even softer and more touchable with age, unlike other fabrics which fray after a few dozen washes.
And, of course, the planet will thank you for choosing a more sustainable option. At the end of its long life, linen will not end up in landfill - it will biodegrade, starting its life cycle all over again.
Linen is an all-year-round fabric. There’s no bad time to wear linen - in the winter, you can wear linen layered with other fabrics (such as wool, cotton, or silk) for a warm, stylish outfit. In the summer, linen's breathability makes it a comfortable and casually cool choice. Garments like linen shirts and linen pants are brilliant wardrobe staples, lasting for years and adhering to the changing conditions of every season.
Truth be told, linen has never gone out of style. Linen’s natural charm and versatility have made it a wardrobe staple for decades.
Particular styles of linen do go in and out of fashion, however. In 2024, wide-legged linen pants and bolder colors of linen (plus linen print) are seen as particularly stylish.
Investing in simple, tailor-made linen pieces that will last for years is a good way of staying in style, even as trends ebb and flow.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quality and Care
High-quality linen has several key indicators:
- It will be robust: when you gently pull the linen in different directions, it shouldn’t stretch.
- It will have a (charming) slightly irregular texture, with some fibers being very slightly larger than others.
- If it’s handmade rather than mass-produced by fast fashion outlets. Bonus points if the linen is made sustainably.
- And, of course, high-quality linen will look great.
Interested in finding out more about what makes our linen best-in-class? Check out our Linen page.
Linen tends to shrink a minute amount (around 4%) after its first wash. From there, it usually doesn’t shrink any further, unless washed incorrectly. Always follow the washing instructions that come with each linen garment to avoid unwanted shrinkage. With the exception of our lined jackets, all of our garments are prewashed before they leave our studio, ensuring that they will not shrink further, and are safe to launder by machine.
Yes, generally linen can go in a dryer. After mostly drying, lie it flat when still a little moist to preserve the smoothest texture.
To avoid shrinking, don’t dry your linen at too high a temperature (low to medium is fine). Don't overload the drum, either - or risk drying wrinkles into the texture of your linen. The best way to take care of your linen is to follow the instructions attached to the garment.
You can iron the natural wrinkles out of linen. For the most long-lasting results, iron just after washing while the fabric is a little moist. You can also use a steamer. Above all, always follow the instructions that come with the linen garment.
However, we believe that linen’s slightly wrinkled texture adds a pop of natural charm.
Plus, instead of spending time ironing, you can also try our linen spray (which is pocket-size for travel).
Firstly, pre-treat any stains using a gentle, preferably naturally sourced stain remover (harsh chemicals can damage linen’s appearance and texture). Don’t wash the linen bathrobe in a cycle that is too hot to avoid fiber shrinkage. A gentle cycle with a mild detergent will safeguard against any discoloration or fiber breakage.
Above all, always read the label for the best results.
You can machine wash 100% linen, though be careful to not overload the drum, or the linen may emerge more wrinkly than expected. Also, to prevent textural damage to the linen. Do not wash linen at high temperatures or use harsh detergents. If in doubt, consult the linen’s instructions.
Linen wrinkles naturally, contributing to its stylish charm. However, if you would like to keep your duvet cover wrinkle-free, you can iron it when it's slightly moist after washing. Don't turn your iron on too hot - or you risk burning or damaging the duvet cover's texture. If you encounter stubborn wrinkles, you may wish to use a steaming option.
After you've ironed it, store your duvet cover carefully folded (rather than stuffed).
Wrinkles are part of linen's natural charm, but there are a few ways to minimize linen's wrinkling. These include:
- Ironing linen when it's slightly moist to smooth out the wrinkles.
- When traveling, use a linen spray to eliminate the wrinkles and freshen your skirt's fabric.
- When washing your skirt, don't overload the washing machine.
- Hang or fold the linen skirt neatly when storing.
By following these tips, you will keep your linen skirt smooth and excess wrinkles at bay.
Linen fibers are not elasticated, meaning they will not stretch as you wear them as a knit garment would. However, since the fibers are natural, they will relax slightly with wear and conform to your body. This is one of the properties that makes “lived in linen” so comfortable.
Linen is a natural fiber, so it generally requires less laundering than other garments/ fabrics because of it’s breathability and antibacterial properties. It does not retain odors as other synthetic fibers do. To keep your linen fresh, wash your linen dress on a gentle cycle in warm water.
Note that over time, your linen dress will become even softer without compromising the fabric's integrity.
Linen looks fantastic with a variety of other fabrics and cuts. Tailored linen flatters every figure while maintaining constant comfort and breathability.
However, caring for linen has a few 'don't dos', including:
- Don't wash your linen with very hot water.
- Don't expose your linen to strong chemicals, like bleach.
- Stuffing linen in dry spaces will result in stronger wrinkling.
Otherwise, linen can be treated like any other fabric.
Linen duvet covers are a highly worthwhile investment. Cool in the summer and warm and inviting in the winter, linen’s thermoregulatory qualities make it an ideal bedding choice. Plus, linen can last for years, becoming softer rather than becoming frayed and torn like other fabrics.
That’s not even covering the relaxing, calm natural appearance of linen. Linen can fit the aesthetics of any bedroom, adding a classy and homely touch to your interior decor.
Linen is a naturally cooling fabric, due to its thermoregulatory qualities. Unlike tightly woven synthetic fibers that trap heat, linen naturally ventilates, keeping cool air close to your skin. Linen also wicks away sweat and moisture, keeping you cool and comfortable as you sleep.
Would you like to find out more about linen duvet covers? Discover our range here.
As a natural fiber, you may be wondering whether linen duvet covers are scratchier than their synthetic counterparts. However, linen is soft and touchable. The more you wash and use linen duvets, the softer they become.
Linen also has a long lifespan, lasting for years without becoming rough and scratchy, unlike other duvet cover materials (cotton, for example).
Explore our attractive and finely textured range of linen duvet covers here.
Linen and cotton are both natural fibers that are popular choices for bedding. Let’s break down their pros and cons:
- Cotton is a popular choice, as it’s available in a variety of colors and styles. It’s also generally more affordable.
- A downside of cotton is that it’s often not as durable and will likely become rougher in texture after multiple washes (unlike linen).
- In terms of breathability, linen is considered to have the edge. Linen also has the unique advantage of having naturally antibacterial qualities. For those with allergies or sleeping in hot climates, linen might be an optimal choice.
- On the other hand, finding high-quality linen is difficult. Natural linen also wrinkles slightly, meaning those looking for completely smooth bedding should opt for cotton.
Linen looks especially elegant when ironed. We recommend ironing linen when it’s still a little moist after being washed. Alternatively, we believe that part of linen’s natural charm is being a little wrinkly. Or, if you’re looking for a low-effort way to preserve your linen’s texture, we offer a linen spray (ideal for traveling).
High-quality linen doesn’t come with many disadvantages. However, you might consider the primary disadvantage of linen is that it wrinkles easily (one of the main indicators of high-quality, genuine linen). If you prefer that crisp, ironed look, then linen might be a higher-maintenance fabric option.
Linen fabric has many advantages, including its longevity, sustainability, a pleasant feel, and thermoregulatory qualities. One very minor disadvantage of linen fabric is that it can wrinkle more quickly than other natural fabrics. For those looking to maintain an unlined look throughout the day, linen may not be the best choice (though there are ways to get around this - check out our guide to maintaining linen).
Frequently Asked Questions
Linen vs Other Fabrics
Europe is known to be a world leader in linen production. But, if we’re talking specifics, then each linen type has its advantages. For example, Belgian linen is known to be breathable and durable, while French linen is known to soften beautifully with age. Ultimately, both types are made from the same flax fiber, so there is not a significant difference between the linen types.
When considering breathability, sustainability, and versatility, linen and cotton present a close call. Selecting either linen or cotton will depend on your requirements.
Linen shirts have several advantages. Linen is a more durable fabric, so a linen shirt can last for years. It is also more breathable, effortlessly adapting to your body temperature.
One slight advantage cotton has over linen is that cotton wrinkles less easily, so if you’re looking to maintain a clean-pressed appearance over its wear, cotton may be a better option.
Both linen pants and jeans are perennial fashion classics. Each garment has its advantages, but linen has a unique advantage insofar as it’s appropriate in both formal and relaxed situations. In contrast, jeans are associated with more casual wear. Jeans are associated with a more urban look; linen has a more relaxed beachy vibe.
Overall, we recommend having both linen pants and jeans in your wardrobe, ensuring you’re ready to put together a trendy outfit for any occasion.
Yes, linen typically wrinkles more than cotton. However, there are a few easy ways you can prevent your linen garments from wrinkling. Firstly, avoid overloading your washing machine drum, dry the linen flat (you will also get the best results if the linen is slightly moist), and use a quality steamer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Linen for Specific Uses
Great question. Several things make linen shirts unique compared to their counterparts made from other fabrics:
- Sustainability and linen go hand in hand. Linen is made from flax, which is naturally biodegradable.
- It’s also naturally thermoregulating. Forget Lycra - linen effortlessly keeps you cool in hot climates, and traps heat in cooler environments.
- Unlike other fabrics, the fabric wicks moisture without retaining bacteria, keeping your skin healthy.
- Finally, one of linen’s most compelling features is that it lasts and actually becomes better with age. Softness and an attractively faded look indicate linen that has been loved for years.
Linen is a versatile and stylish fabric for a jacket. Linen jackets are breathable, making them a comfortable choice to wear for long periods. Oh, and linen lasts for years, becoming softer with age (rather than other fabrics, which start to tear or fray).
You can customize a linen jacket to any occasion - pair it with fitted pants, for example, for a professional look. Or wear a linen jacket with a T-shirt and jeans for a more casual and relaxed look.

Sure, linen blazers are a stylish and comfortable choice for anyone. Here’s why:
- They’re comfortable and breathable for long periods.
- Linen blazers are available in a variety of colors and styles, making it easy to find one that suits you.
- Linen is especially effective when tailored to your body measurements - find out more about how Cedar & Vine works.
A linen shirt should be neither excessively tight nor loose. Rather, a well-fitting linen shirt will allow free movement without being unshapely. It should:
- Not bunch or tighten at the seams, even when bending.
- Button easily.
- Fall to your hip.
Of course, you could opt for a very loose linen shirt - for example, as beach wear.
If you’re curious about our tailored linen shirt, view our collection.
Wearing a t-shirt under a linen shirt is a common and stylish fashion practice. There are several benefits to wearing a t-shirt under linen, including:
- Versatility. Linen looks extra sophisticated when layered with other materials.
- Practicality - if you get too hot, just take off the linen shirt.
- Comfort - the t-shirt will absorb any sweat.
Remember to color-coordinate the linen shirt and t-shirt, however!
Linen’s calm, natural texture means you can wear a variety of clothes underneath to great effect. Here are a few examples of what you could wear under linen:
- A t-shirt - wearing a t-shirt under a linen shirt combines style and practicality.
- Black sheer tights under a linen skirt provide a visually striking look.
- For undergarments, you might consider nude-colored undergarments with sleek fibers, to minimize visibility.
Ultimately, linen is extremely versatile – experiment with layering to achieve stunning results.
Many people believe linen’s fibers loosen - some believe that linen shrinks after its first wash. Yet, the safest option is to opt for tailored linen in your usual size (and always check the linen maker’s return policy)
Accessorizing a linen suit with a belt is a common fashion practice. Though not always necessary, wearing a belt with a linen suit will cinch your waist, adding a tailored look. Most belts will look chic with linen. For example:
- A woven belt will complement the natural appearance of linen.
- A dress belt will add a touch of formality.
- A leather or polyester belt will complement most linen colors.
Overall, linen suits look extra fabulous with a belt, though you can experiment with other accessories, such as shoes, handbags, and scarves.
There are several reasons why linen is a superb fabric choice for skirts. Here are a few of the best:
- Linen is one of the most breathable materials. Keep that breeze around your legs with a loose, flowing linen skirt.
- Linen supports richer, bolder colors and patterns to great effect. Linen isn’t just beige and white - it can support several colors and patterns, and be a fashionable, cutting-edge skirt choice.
- Linen skirts are a highly versatile wardrobe staple. Pair one with a T-shirt, denim jacket, or open-toed shoes.
And we haven’t even touched on the sustainability and longevity of linen. Want to discover more? Browse our collection of linen skirts.
When it comes to summer wear, linen is an ideal choice. Firstly, linen is highly breathable, keeping fresh air circulating closely to your body and wicking away sweat and other moisture. The natural fibers of a linen dress offer unbeatable breathability and durability, ensuring that you’ll be pulling it out of your wardrobe summer after summer.
Linen offers a charming, natural appearance that plays nicely with an assortment of other summer fashion staples, such as airy blouses, denim jackets, straw hats, and sandals, to name a few.
A linen dress can be a comfortable and exceptionally stylish choice for a formal event. Accessorize your linen dress with heels or pumps, a cinched belt, a handbag, statement earrings, pearls, and minimalist makeup.
A linen dress is not only ok for a wedding guest, but it can also be the base of a chic and effortlessly elegant wedding outfit. There is only one exception: for a black-tie wedding, you might consider a more traditional fabric like satin or silk.
For a polished linen wedding dress outfit, why not combine a dark linen dress with a tailored blazer and metallic heels? For a more modern look, you might try strappy sandals and statement earrings.
Linen is an ideal fabric for duvet covers, given several important properties:
- It's highly breathable, naturally ventilating, and keeps you pleasantly cool as you sleep.
- Linen gets softer with age. Rather than replacing synthetic or blended duvet covers every couple of years, linen will last, becoming even more touchable over time.
- Linen is a stylish and versatile material, complimenting most bedroom interior decors effortlessly.
Durability plus style - that's linen. View our collection of bestselling duvet covers here.
Generally, it is recommended to wash a linen duvet cover weekly, the same as any other material. If you live in a hot climate, washing your linen more often might help avoid sweat build-up. We also recommend owning two linen duvet covers, meaning that you can enjoy the softness and breathability of linen while the other set is in the wash.
Don’t forget to avoid washing linen at a high temperature, and never use harsh chemicals or bleach.

Fashion and Styling
Linen’s relaxed and sophisticated aura makes it a blank palette for accessorizing. There are many ways to make linen appear fresh and contemporary. Here are a few style ideas:
- Pair with jewelry - we especially love pairing linen with silver or rose gold.
- Try out different accessories - belts, scarves, and so on.
- Mix textures - such as silk and denim for a vivid and unique aesthetic.
While traditional, linen is not an ‘old’ fabric, rather it is timeless. You can style linen to look fresh and photoshoot-ready by playing with proportions, different patterns, and bold jewelry and makeup.
Looking good in linen is easy. As a natural fabric with rich colors, linen is a blank canvas on which to stamp your natural style. Here are a few ways to take your linen to the next level:
- Mix textures for a visually interesting and pleasing aesthetic. Why not try experimenting with denim or silk?
- Don’t be afraid to try bolder colors on linen. People tend to think of linen as neutral, pale, or beige, but linen can support more vibrant colors beautifully. Try out different patterns or styles - you may be surprised at the results.
- And, of course, accessories can make a key difference. Handbags, jewelry, hairstyles, and makeup can offset your linen, cultivating a uniquely attractive aesthetic.
For some extra style inspiration, why not check out our linen garment collection?
The color of the linen shirt will depend on your personal style, your current wardrobe, and what aesthetic you’re aiming for. Here are a few pointers to ensure that you find the right color shirt for your requirements.
- Light blue linen pairs well with most other colors, going particularly well with jeans or khaki pants.
- Light yellow or green adds springlike tones, pairing well with other light colors.
- If you’re looking for something with a more polished or business-like aesthetic, opt for a suave navy blue.
Ultimately, linen plays nicely with most other colors and styles.
Linen suits coordinate with a range of styles, so don't be afraid to branch out from the monochrome. Here are a few ideas for colors to use with a linen suit:
- For pale or neutral-colored linen suits, play with textures - stripes can make a bold visual impact, for example.
- Linen supports bolder colors well, so why not pair a rusty orange linen suit with a white shirt?
Linen is often associated with plain neutral colors - but really, linen offers a sublime fashion palette to experiment with.
Linen shirts have seen a well-deserved resurgence in popularity in the past few years. Due to its elegant ambiance, durability, and versatility, linen has a long tradition and has never truly gone out of fashion.
The rise of linen shirts’ popularity can also be attributed to a greater environmental conscientiousness. Linen is one of the most ethical and environmentally friendly fabrics available, meaning that wearing linen isn’t just a stylish choice - it’s a smart one.
Are you curious about the current styles of linen shirts? Check out our collection.
The bagginess of linen pants will depend on how they are tailored. Wide-leg linen pants will, of course, be baggy. Other baggy styles of linen trousers may include culottes or harem pants. In contrast, tapered linen pants present a more streamlined, less loose-fitting look. For more information about different pant styles, check out our Pants page.
Linen suits are thermoregulatory, meaning that they can trap heat in cooler temperatures. An ideal way to ensure that your linen suit is winter-ready is to layer it. Cardigans, silk blouses, cropped sweaters, and coats can highlight linen’s stylish appearance while keeping you toasty in the winter. Fabrics that might coordinate with linen are wool (knit), silk, and cotton.
Firstly, we would not recommend wearing white undergarments, which heavily emphasize the outline of the undergarments. Nude garments are best; otherwise, opting for undergarments in a neutral color should do the trick.
If you’re looking to reduce your stomach’s curvature while wearing a dress, there are several ways to do so:
- Wear the right underwear - such as high-waisted briefs, which flatter your hips and torso.
- Wearing a bodysuit can shape your entire figure, including your waist and hips.
- Choosing the right dress cut can also hide the visibility of your stomach. Wearing a wrap dress, for instance, cinches at the waist and disguising the stomach. Or you might consider an empire waist that sits below the bust, flowing and draping beautifully over your body.
If you would like a dress that flatters your body shape, why not try Cedar & Vine’s tailor-made linen?
Firstly, we wouldn’t recommend wearing white under a white linen dress, as it highlights the area of underwear. You might instead consider a beige or neutral-colored slip or underwear. Seamless cuts will minimize underwear lines. If your white linen dress is cut close to the upper legs, you might consider boyshorts.
There are no set rules for wearing linen. Generally, people avoid wearing linen before Memorial Day or after Labor Day, but this is a personal preference rather than a set rule.
Otherwise, linen is one of the most adaptable fabrics available, pairing flatteringly with natural fabrics (like silk, cotton, and wool), as well as blends. It can be worn as a fitted, tailored garment or more casually.
There are no times when wearing linen is inappropriate. Some people avoid wearing linen before Memorial Day or after Labor Day as a personal preference. The truth is that linen can be worn on any occasion: casually, in work environments, at social functions, and so on. Its breathability means it can supply comfort in hot environments, or thermoregulate in warmer temperatures.
Upkeeping your linen is easy, but here are a few pointers:
- Don’t machine-dry linen at too high a temperature to prevent shrinkage.
- Don’t expose your linen to bleach or similarly harsh chemicals. Delicately woven from flax fibers, bleach can discolor and ruin the structural integrity of your fabric.
- Likewise, give your linen room to breathe in the washer. Don’t overload the drum, or wrinkles might form in your linen.
And, of course, always follow your linen garment’s instructions.
